Fall Colors – Flagstaff, Arizona

Posted by on Oct 5, 2009 in Places | 2 Comments
We spent a day up in Flagstaff over the weekend – John wanted to fish, I wanted to get some photos of the fall colors. It was really windy but a pretty day. I dropped John at Lake Mary south of town and I went to Hart Prairie, which is located at the base of the San Fransisco Peaks. I took Hwy 180 out of Flagstaff and turned off on forest service road 151. It was a beautiful drive that winds through aspen groves and then opens up into a stunning valley. Along the way two deer leaped across the road up ahead of me. The leaves haven’t quite reached their peak color but I got some nice photos. The bottom photos are from Lake Mary. It was tough fishing because of the wind but John caught a big one – a 3 1/2′ long pike. This was no “big fish” tale either, he had proof – a photo taken with his iphone. The master fisherman and his faithful companion are pictured below.

Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing. If only we had more time to photograph.

Thanks West! I admire your work too. I wish I did have more time for photography, I live in the perfect state for it.
