Vintage advertising that raises the question: “What were they thinking?”

Hard to believe when Coca Cola first came on the market it was advertised as a medicinal product.

A couple of strung out toddlers, it’s no wonder, this stuff contained morphine!

Mrs. Winslow looks very relaxed, I wonder what was in this one?

Yes, you read that product name right.

Don’t you love it, babies touting cigarettes.

And you wonder why our nation’s kids are obese.

In five years you won’t be fat because you’ll be dead!

Give the gift that keeps on giving…

I think this may be one of Chucky’s ancestors.

Whatever this tonic is used for it has some nasty side effects.

Children of the corn…

The family that shoots together stays together…
And of course sexism runs rampant in these old ads:

You wonder what’s in these pills.

There are no words for this…

Oh my gosh those are hysterical! You wouldn’t believe it if you didn’t see them. I do remember my dad telling me doctors used to advertise for cigarettes. And I’m sure glad women have progressed in our society! Except I still have to have my husband open some jars…
